Abenra Apartments - Housing in the heart of Copenhagen

This apartment building is an infill proposal for the space between the Reformed Church, and the Danish Architecture Association located in Central Copenhagen. This proposal seeks to respect both of the adjacent buildings which have historical significance. It does this by leaving the stained glass windows of the church unobstructed due to the void of the courtyard space, and space is also made for light to reach the windows of the architecture association. The timber grid seeks to give some form and order to this void with geometry taken from the site shapes and lines of the adjacent buildings. The form of the apartment massing is also informed by similar site geometry. The materiality takes a minimalistic approach with wood, glass, and concrete expressed.
